  • Steph Freeland-Small - Co-Owner / Studio Manager / TRAINER

    Steph made a life changing decision to leave her corporate role in brand marketing to follow her true passion in health and wellness. An eternal student, Steph has also completed her Masters in Human Resource Management, driven by her absolute love of people and connection.

    Steph taught the first ever class at the inaugural Core Cartel studio in Camberwell, and fell in love with the brand and what it stood for. Determined to open a studio of her own, she is now a proud co-owner of the first sister studio in Hampton.

    “The Core Cartel is so much more than a Pilates studio - it’s a community. It’s the people that really glued me to the brand, and I’m now so excited to bring the same magic to Hampton!”

    Steph is the Studio Manager at Hampton, so expect to see her floating around most days.

    On a free weekend, you’ll find Steph on a wake surfer at Lake Eildon, sipping a good Chardy, or yelling from the sidelines for her beloved Hawthorn Football Club.

  • Jo mCgrath - Co-Owner / Trainer / Nutritionist

    Jo fell in love with Pilates 12 years ago and has been practicing regularly ever since. Jo recently left the corporate world with a clear vision - to create a studio that offered outstanding customer service, excellent tailored classes, and Trainers that care about their clients’ needs.

    “It’s important to me that our clients feel part of our community - they look forward to training with us, but also enjoy the social, engaging aspect that this environment should provide. Also that our Trainers are happy and engaged so they provide the best classes. Train, laugh and build lasting friendships - that is what we are striving for at The Core Cartel.”

    Jo is also our Nutritionist, and is determined to help her clients achieve not only their fitness goals, but to help them fuel their body correctly too.

    If you have any concerns about your diet Jo can help guide you to achieving you health goals.

    Outside of Pilates, Jo enjoys a Champagne, travelling, reading anything that fuels her brain, and spending as much time as she can with her three sons and her dog Harley.

  • Anna Nolan - Trainer

    Anna first stepped foot into a Pilates studio six years ago, and hasn’t looked back since! She is a qualified fitness trainer, and added Pilates instructing to her teaching repertoire in 2023.

    Anna is passionate about strength and conditioning, but equally loves the impact that Pilates can have on the mind - not just the body.

    Anna will keep you on your toes as she contrasts heavy strength work with light stability exercices, and you’ll feel the heat with her favourite side lying glutes!

    Anna is a passionate but forlorn St Kilda support, and when she’s not teaching or training herself, you’ll find her splashing around at the beach.

    Annd loves an early 2000s throwback - nothing like a cracking tune to help embrace the burn!

  • Rachel Finlay - Trainer

    Rachel’s fascination with Reformer Pilates was sparked from a single experience, and she has immersed herself in the practice ever since. She is known for creating a supportive and empowering environment that instils confidence, inspires growth, and where clients of all levels can thrive.

    Rachel brings a dynamic blend of expertise, passion and innovation to every session.
